Doha deal creates corruption monitoring mechanism
13 November 2009 - After a week of intense negotiations, States have agreed to a mechanism to monitor implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. According to UNODC Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa: "This agreement will not end corruption, but it will enable us to measure and fight it." Corruption conference opens in Doha
9 November 2009 - Over 1,000 delegates from 125 countries are meeting this week in Doha, Qatar to review implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. The delegates represent countries that have signed the United Nations anti-corruption treaty. This is the Third Session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption which came into force in December 2005.[Read More]
